Google’s Mission, Three Respects and Ten Things.
Mission
Organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.
Three Respects
Respect the user
- Focus on the user and all else will follow.
- Not just one user…everyone.
- Give people a voice. And a chance.
- Treat every bit of data the way you’d want your data to be treated.
Respect the opportunity
- We only succeed when others succeed.
- Identify the real problem. Then solve it brilliantly.
- Think big. Act small. Stay humble.
Respect each other
- Treat each other with dignity.
- You can disagree without being disagreeable.
- Ultimately, each other means everyone.
Ten Things We Know To Be True
- Focus on the user and all else will follow.
- It’s best to do one thing really, really well.
- Fast is better than slow.
- Democracy on the web works.
- You don’t need to be at your desk to need an answer.
- You can make money without doing evil.
- There’s always more information out there.
- The need for information crosses all borders.
- You can be serious without a suit.
- Great just isn’t good enough.
Don’t be Evil
- Amit Patel (Google
